OUR VISION

Community, Connection, Conservation

Community

The Chapel Project represents an effort to bring this special building back into community use post-Covid.

We have undertaken a sympathetic scheme of placemaking and repurposing, creating an inclusive, multi-use space. What we have now is an inclusive indoor area for community use, charity programs, spiritual reflection, local artist exhibits, and a quiet place for visitors to the area to relax in.

Connection

  • Connect with each other

  • Connect with nature, the sea, the beach, the dunes

  • Connect spiritually as a place of worship

Conservation

  • Several of our partner charities work in the ecological conservation space and will run projects from the chapel that spread awareness of how we can look after nature. These charities will also use the chapel as a base for teams of volunteers, and have a real impact on the distinctive and protected local nature systems.

  • We have also improved the building’s ecological sustainability through improvements to the insulation, heating and lighting systems.

  • Conserving the physical fabric of the chapel is key to our vision. It has been recognised as a unique site and afforded Grade II* listed status as such.
